1:00 p.m. Session I - Planning in Our Uncertain Tax Environment With a Focus on Individuals and Their Businesses (under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act)
presented by: Thomas M. Brinker, Jr., CPA, Professor of Accounting, Arcadia University

The recently enacted Tax Cuts and Jobs Act represents some of the most sweeping changes in our tax law in decades. This session will review the implications on both individual and businesses, with a focus on changes impacting individual and business taxation. Several illustrative examples will be provided, including changes to the individual AMT, and the new 20% Qualified Business Income deduction for our pass-thru entities (including service entities).

2:15 p.m. - Session II - The Critical Role of the Financial Analyst/Advisor in Divorce Mediation

presented by: Crispino M. Pastore, Esq.,
Co-Founder and Managing Attorney-Mediator, Main Line Family Law Center, LLC

We will introduce the alternative process of private, out-of-court mediation to resolve a couple's divorce and discuss how the process works to achieve healthier outcomes for couples and their families emerging through this challenging life transition. We will then discuss the role of the financial analyst/advisor in assisting the process in achieving the outcome of a fair, mindful and financially sensible divorce settlement which benefits all family members. Cris will use an actual case example to demonstrate how the financial analyst/advisor assists and compliments the process to achieve this desired end.
