Mark your calendars now and plan to join us for a very special event....our first CE Cultural Competency Workshop to be held at the offices of our generous sponsor:

Our featured panel consists of:

Michael H. Casson, Jr., PhD, Dean, College Of Business; Associate Professor of Economics, Delaware State University and President of Casson Analytics. President of Delaware Multicultural & Civic Organization

Nandita Das, PhD, CFA®, CFP®, EA, RICP®, Associate Professor of Finance, Delaware State University and President of DAS Financial Health, LLC.

Casson and Das will discuss the importance of understanding different cultures and how the value systems of different cultures interact with the financial decisions made by the client. Casson will discuss a cookbook approach to cultural competency that will enable participants to understand and serve their clients better. Das will walk participants through mini case studies of potential clients to explain how financial goal prioritization is based on the interaction of societal and cultural upbringing.  This workshop will enable participants to be more culturally competent and better serve their clients.  The presentation will include:

  • Defining culture and reflecting on personal experiences
  • Understanding stages of cultural competence
  • Understanding cultural underpinnings of how people deal with finances
  • Cultivating behaviors that increase cultural competence
  • Understanding cultural influence on the client's money mindset

The key takeaway will be to understand and serve clients better by understanding how their cultural background shapes their values, passions and goals in a changing diaspora.  Participants will be able to understand how cultural attitudes towards money affect their clients' values.

Participants will gain a deeper understanding of what "culture" represents, beyond ethnic and national boundaries. This workshop will help participants reflect upon their clients' culturally influenced values in order to develop a robust financial plan, including insurance, retirement and estate planning.  It will enable participants to recommend investment portfolios and risk management techniques that align with the client's cultural values.

Breakfast, lunch and CE are included for the low price of $20!.  Earn up to 3.5 hours of CFP® CE (2.5 hours CFP® CE approved for Competency Panel and 1 hour for eMoney Session pending approval at this time).

We look forward to seeing you at this special event!
